What is Mandarinput?
Mandarinput helps you learn Chinese through complete sentences. Listen to Mandarin, understand the meaning, and rebuild the sentence in plain Pinyin.
Each sentence connects the words, their order, and their sound. You can watch an explanation, practice from memory, listen, read along, or speak aloud.
Try your first sentence
Take a sentence you might use in everyday conversation:
I study Chinese at home.
我在家学习中文。
wo zai jia xuexi zhongwenListen to the sentence, then connect the English meaning to the Chinese word order. In Guided Mode, type the Pinyin for each word and use the feedback to correct it.
You will still see and hear tones in the learning material. Plain Pinyin makes input easier; keep listening to learn how the sentence sounds.
One sentence, five practice modes
Choose the mode that matches what you want to practice. You can start with Watch when a sentence is new, then use Guided to recall it yourself.

You do not have to use every mode for every sentence. Compare the modes and choose where to start.
Find something you want to learn
Courses organize sentences into lessons. Start with Beginner material for a gentle introduction, use HSK courses for level-based practice, or choose Everyday topics for useful situations.

Return to what needs another try
After practicing, open Review to revisit Mistakes, keep items in New, or mark familiar content as Mastered. Notes keep your own explanations beside the sentence.

Get started in a few steps
- Create a free account. Sign up to keep your learning tied to your account, or try the homepage demo first.
- Choose a short lesson. Open Course Library and choose a Beginner course if you are starting out.
- Understand the sentence. Listen and read its meaning. Use Watch if you want an explanation.
- Practice it yourself. Switch to Guided and type plain Pinyin. Correct the words that need another try.
- Make one review pass. Open Mistakes after the lesson and revisit the difficult content.
A short lesson and a few review items make a useful first session. You can build from there.
