Account & Settings
Use the same account for your courses, Review, progress, and membership. Adjust Settings to make the pace, hints, sound, and text comfortable for you.
Create an account
Open Sign up and follow the registration steps. Check your inbox if you are asked to confirm your email.
You can try the homepage demo before registering. Sign in when you want your learning associated with your account.
Log in to the right account
Open Log in and use your email and password, or the Google sign-in option. Use the account associated with your previous learning and purchases.
After signing in, let the page finish loading before checking your courses and progress. Get help if something is missing.
Password and account email help
- Open Reset password.
- Enter your account email and request the reset link.
- Check your inbox and spam folder.
- Open the newest message and follow its link to choose a new password.
If the link has expired, request a new one. For help with your account email, contact support from that email when possible.
Continue across devices
Sign in to the same account on each device so your saved learning can follow you. Keep an internet connection available and allow account information to finish loading.
If courses or progress look different, check the account email and connection first. Note the affected page or course before asking for help.
Computers, phones, and tablets
Mandarinput runs in your browser. A computer with a physical keyboard is the most comfortable option for Guided and Dictation sessions.
On a phone or tablet, Watch and Read-Along let you listen and follow the material without typing every word. Speak needs browser permission to use your microphone.
Playback and audio settings
Open Settings or the Settings control in Practice.

Use Standard (device) or Enhanced (cloud) audio as available. If audio does not play, start with the audio troubleshooting steps.
Hints and appearance
Open Settings → Answering to adjust the help you see:
- Show answer as ghost text: choose how Pinyin hints appear.
- Show word meanings: choose how English meanings appear above words.
- Auto show answer: choose when a full Pinyin answer appears after Mistakes.
- Auto-advance to next word: move forward after typing a word correctly.
- Auto-start next question: move on after completing an answer.
Ghost text and word meanings each offer Off, Progressive, and Always show. You can adjust them separately.
Open Appearance for theme and text-size choices. Choose sizes that let you read the Chinese, Pinyin, and meanings comfortably.
Keyboard shortcuts
On a computer, open Settings → Shortcuts to see or change the available practice shortcuts. Use the assignments shown there, especially if you have customized them.
Some shortcuts behave differently in Speak Mode. The Shortcuts section is hidden on narrow screens.
In this help center, press Cmd/Ctrl K to search and Esc to close search. You can also press / when you are not typing in a field.
