Create courses

Make your own course

Make a personal course around material you want to practice: sentences from a class, a trip, a work topic, or your own study notes.

Active Pro lets you create, edit, and practice personal courses. Start with one topic and a short lesson.

Choose a focused topic

A useful course has a clear purpose. “Ordering lunch” is easier to practice than “Everything about food.” A lesson from your class or a small set of phrases you keep forgetting also makes a good starting point.

Before creating a course, check Course Library for material that already fits your goal.

Create a course and lesson

  1. Open Course Editor. With active Pro, create a personal course and give it a clear name.
  2. Add a lesson. Keep the first lesson small enough to finish in one session.
  3. Add your sentences. Enter material, use the available AI tools, or import prepared items.
  4. Review the content. Check the Chinese, meaning, Pinyin, and word grouping before saving.
  5. Practice the lesson. Try the material in Guided or Watch, then revisit difficult items in Review.

Open Course Editor.

Import your own material

Start with Chinese text

Open a personal course and lesson, then open the item editor. Choose Paste Chinese Text, enter short Chinese sentences, review the result, and save them to the lesson.

AI processing uses credits. Read the estimate shown by the editor before you proceed, and check the result before saving.

Use material you have already prepared

Expand Advanced: paste formatted items. Use one item per line with three parts:

English meaning || Chinese words separated by | || Pinyin with tone marks

For example:

I study Chinese at home || 我|在|家|学习|中文 || wǒ zài jiā xuéxí Zhōngwén

You can also paste three tab-separated columns in the same order: English meaning, segmented Chinese, and Pinyin. Choose Add formatted items, then review the items before saving.

Import format and practice input are different

Prepared course material includes Pinyin with tone marks. During typing practice, you enter plain Pinyin without tone marks.

Keep the language natural, the meaning clear, and the lesson focused. A shorter course is easier to review and improve.
