Practice Modes

Use the same sentence in the mode your brain needs today.

Each mode trains a different part of the same sentence: understanding, recall, listening, reading rhythm, or speaking. Switch modes when the next repetition needs a different job.

Which mode should I use?

NeedBest modeWhy
I do not understand the sentence yet.WatchAI explains and demonstrates the sentence before typing.
I want normal sentence practice.GuidedMeaning, audio, typing, and feedback stay in one loop.
I need stronger listening.DictationYou rebuild the sentence from sound first.
I want lower-pressure repetition.Read-AlongYou follow the sentence while hearing it.
I want pronunciation practice.SpeakYou say the sentence and compare pronunciation.

Guided Mode

Best for: building the default habit. See the English meaning, hear the Mandarin, type plain Pinyin, and use feedback to correct the sentence.

  • Use Guided after Watch Mode when the sentence is understood.
  • Keep word spacing clear.
  • Use audio before guessing.

Dictation

Best for: listening accuracy. Dictation asks you to rely more on sound before rebuilding the sentence in Pinyin.

Tip

If Dictation feels too hard, watch the sentence once, then return to Dictation while the sound is fresh.

Read-Along

Best for: rhythm and low-friction exposure. Use Read-Along when you want more repetitions without typing every sentence.

Speak Mode

Best for: pronunciation and sentence rhythm. Speak Mode is useful after you can recognize and type a sentence, because speaking too early often turns into guessing.

Plain Pinyin input

You do not need tone marks. Type plain Pinyin and let feedback show whether the sentence has the right words and spacing.

Device tips

Typing practice feels best on a computer with a keyboard. Watch Mode works well across phone, tablet, and desktop because it focuses on explanation and demonstration.
